The Levy family, consisting of John, Benjie, Aubrey, and Noah, will be leaving Penn Interactive in the upcoming weeks as part of a carefully planned leadership transition, according to Penn Entertainment.
John Levy will be the first to step down in mid-February, followed by Benjie, Aubrey, and Noah in April.
Penn Entertainment’s CEO and president, Jay Snowden, noted that this transition aligns with the completion of the migration to their proprietary technology platform, the exceptional performance of TheScore’s media and betting business, and the successful launch of ESPN Bet.
Snowden praised the Levys as successful entrepreneurs and pioneers in the sports media and gaming industry, acknowledging their contribution to developing a talented team at Penn Interactive.
He expressed confidence in the experienced team in place for a seamless transition and their continued growth as leaders in online gaming and sports media.
Penn also confirmed that they are in the final stages of their search for a new head of interactive, with an update expected soon.
Benjie Levy had served as the head of Penn Interactive since October 2021 when Penn acquired Score Media and Gaming (TheScore) and integrated it into their unit.
John Levy had also taken on the role of executive chairman of TheScore.
Penn’s acquisition of TheScore led to various achievements, including the launch of TheScore Bet in Ontario and the transition to a proprietary technology stack.
Most notably, they successfully launched ESPN Bet in November of the previous year, a product stemming from a $1.5 billion partnership with Disney-owned ESPN established in August 2023.
ESPN Bet replaced the Barstool Sportsbook operation, with the Barstool brand being sold back to its founder, Dave Portnoy.
Reflecting on their time at Penn, Benjie Levy expressed immense pride in their team’s industry-leading technology and product development efforts, along with fostering an exceptional work environment.
John Levy emphasized their mission to empower fans with a seamlessly integrated media and betting experience, highlighting the strategy’s success with TheScore, TheScore Bet in Ontario, and ESPN Bet in the United States.
The Levys expressed optimism about the continued success of Penn’s online gaming business underpinned by this strategy.
