Gaming technology company Light & Wonder has secured a vendor license from the General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority (GCGRA), the UAE’s federal body overseeing commercial gaming.
This license allows the firm to supply its electronic gaming machines, table games, utilities, and iGaming content to licensed operators across the region.
The approval marks a significant step as the UAE gears up to enter the regulated gaming space, having established the GCGRA in 2023 to manage commercial gaming activities.
Leadership Emphasizes Responsible Growth
Matt Wilson, President and CEO of Light & Wonder, emphasized the importance of this milestone.
“Securing a license from the GCGRA is an important milestone for Light & Wonder as we enter one of the most anticipated new regulated markets in the world,” he said.
“We’re honoured to be among the first approved suppliers and are committed to bringing our trusted, responsible and player-first approach to the UAE.”
Strong Financial Performance and Ongoing Growth
The license comes at a time of strong financial momentum for the company.
Light & Wonder recently reported its 16th consecutive quarter of revenue growth, with adjusted EBITDA rising by 11% in Q1 2025.
The firm also continues to expand its portfolio and partnerships.
In June, it deepened its relationship with BetMGM through the release of “The Wizard of Oz – Follow the Yellow Brick Road,” the second title in a licensed slot series, launched in New Jersey, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Ontario.
Strategic Acquisitions and Market Reach
Earlier in the year, Light & Wonder completed an $850 million acquisition of Grover Gaming’s charitable gaming assets, marking its entry into a new segment of the industry.
This acquisition strengthens its cross-platform offerings and adds further depth to its portfolio.
The company is already a major player in regulated gaming markets across North America, Europe, and the Middle East.
Its entry into the UAE signals continued international expansion and reinforces its position as a global gaming technology leader.
