Rhodes is set to inaugurate the Consumer Protection Zone (CPZ) on February 6th, coinciding with the opening day of ICE London 2024 at 11:30 AM.
This launch will be accompanied by a generous £41,000 donation to a safer gambling charity, handpicked by CPZ supporters and donors.
Comprising contributions from esteemed brands such as Light & Wonder, Flutter, and Neccton, this donation elevates the total funds raised by CPZ to a remarkable £238,000 in the preceding four years.
The ICE London 2024 exhibition will span from February 6th to 8th and will undergo a venue transition to Fira de Barcelona starting from 2025.
Ewa Bakun, Director of Industry Insight and Engagement at Clarion Gaming, emphasized the significance of Andrew Rhodes, Chief Executive of the Gambling Commission, inaugurating this year’s CPZ.
She noted that the CPZ’s inception was influenced by Tim Miller of the Gambling Commission, making Rhodes a fitting choice to open the 2024 edition, which also marks the final one to be held in London before the relocation to Barcelona.
Furthermore, Bakun revealed that this year’s CPZ is the most extensive one to date, featuring 20 participating booths.
ICE London has taken the pioneering step of incorporating a dedicated area for safer gambling on the exhibition floor since its launch in 2018.
The CPZ has progressively grown in size and prominence, earning the distinction of being the most popular ICE feature among show visitors according to post-show research.
Tracy Skenandore, Vice President of Corporate Social Responsibility at Light & Wonder, expressed the company’s commitment to supporting CPZ, driven by their dedication to responsible gaming and sustainability initiatives.
Skenandore highlighted their desire to invest in charities promoting community support, sustainability, responsible gaming, diversity, and inclusivity.
Dr. Michael Auer, Managing Director of OpenBet’s Neccton, underscored the positive impact of CPZ donations on charities focused on mitigating gambling-related harm.
The CPZ places player protection and safer gaming at its core, making a substantial difference through its annual contributions to charities fostering positive play and addressing gambling-related issues.
With the ever-evolving global regulatory landscape, CPZ is anticipated to be a significant focal point for numerous ICE attendees in the wake of a transformative year in the industry.
