Iowa residents can now access the Fanatics Sportsbook mobile app to place bets, marking the latest development in the state’s expanding sports betting market.

Existing PointsBet customers will seamlessly transition to the Fanatics platform, with their credentials and account details, including username, password, balance, rewards points, and responsible gaming settings, automatically migrating.

Furthermore, the PointsBet retail sportsbook at Catfish Bend Casino will be rebranded as the Fanatics Sportsbook, accompanied by the installation of new self-service betting kiosks provided by Suzohapp.

This move comes as part of FBG’s strategy to phase out the PointsBet brand across the United States following its acquisition of PointsBet US in August 2023.

Iowa becomes the 12th state to welcome the Fanatics Sportsbook, joining Colorado, Connecticut, Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Vermont, Virginia, and West Virginia in offering online services. Additionally, retail betting venues operate in Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

FBG also provides casino gaming through the Fanatics Casino, currently available in Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

FBG has indicated that its expansion plans into other US markets are proceeding as scheduled, although no specific timeline has been provided for further acquisitions and launches.

In December, Iowa’s sports betting market saw a handle of $282.7 million, a 23.0% increase from December 2022 but slightly lower than November 2023’s $289.7 million.

Online betting accounted for $258.3 million, while retail sportsbooks saw $24.4 million in wagers.

Revenue in December reached $26.3 million, up 28.9% from the previous year and significantly higher than November’s $14.1 million.

Online betting generated $23.6 million in revenue, while retail wagering contributed $2.7 million.

Diamond Jo Dubuque and FanDuel led the market in December, reporting $7.2 million in revenue from $68.7 million in bets.

Wild Rose in Jefferson and DraftKings followed with $4.0 million in revenue and a $43.3 million handle, while Wild Rose in Emmetsburg, another DraftKings partner, reported $3.0 million in revenue from $27.5 million in wagers.

Legacy PointsBet operations at Catfish Bend Casino generated $331,818 in revenue from $4.6 million in bets during December.
