Delaware’s Gambling Revenue Soars in March, Driven by New Online Sportsbook and Casino Launches

March witnessed remarkable growth in Delaware’s gambling industry, with sports betting and online casino operations experiencing significant increases in both handle and revenue.

The state’s handle soared past last year’s $3.5 million recorded in March, marking a notable 37.0% rise from $13.8 million in February this year.

Sports betting revenue in March reached $1.0 million, a sharp rise of 89.2% compared to $544,385 in the previous year, and an 83.8% increase from $560,449 in February.

This surge was primarily attributed to the Delaware Lottery’s introduction of its first online sportsbook earlier in January, which is operated by Rush Street Interactive (RSI) and BetRivers.

Delaware Park led the charge in March, generating $681,548 in revenue from $13.1 million in bets.

Following were Harrington Raceway with $176,583 from $3.3 million, and Bally’s Dover, which garnered $113,692 from $1.5 million in bets. Additionally, Delaware retailers added $58,273 in revenue from $990,664 worth of bets.

The online casino sector also saw a significant boost, with March’s total spending reaching $136.0 million, up 227.7% from $41.5 million in March of the previous year and 16.0% from $117.2 million in February.

Players wagered $85.3 million on video lottery and $50.7 million on online table games.

The total revenue for the online casino market in March was $4.6 million, representing a 228.6% increase from the previous year and an 18.0% rise from February’s $3.9 million.

Online video games alone accounted for $3.3 million of the monthly revenue, while table games contributed $1.3 million.

Delaware Park was the frontrunner in the online casino space as well, posting $2.0 million in revenue from video and table games, with a total expenditure of $71.1 million.

Harrington Raceway followed with $1.6 million in igaming revenue from $38.9 million, and Bally’s Dover completed the trio with $951,096 in revenue from $26.1 million in total wagers.

The growth in both markets is further buoyed by the recent rollouts of new online casino platforms by the state’s three operators, launched in January.

These developments have significantly contributed to the buoyant figures recorded in the gambling sectors across Delaware.
