In April 2024, Pennsylvania’s gaming industry generated $504.6 million (€464.8 million/£398.1 million) in revenue, marking a 5.9% increase compared to April 2023, according to the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB).

This figure, though lower than the record $554.6 million in March 2024, remains comparable on a daily basis considering March had an extra day.

Retail slots continued to be the largest contributor to gaming revenue, though the $205.4 million recorded was a 3.5% decrease from April 2023.

The number of slot machines in operation also dropped from 25,555 in April 2023 to 24,890 in April 2024.

Parx Casino, the state’s most popular venue, saw a 4.9% decline in revenue to $31.6 million.

The second largest segment in Pennsylvania’s gaming market was igaming slots, which generated $126.0 million, up 31.8% year-on-year.

Igaming tables and sports betting both experienced significant growth. Igaming table revenue rose 15.8% to $45.0 million.

After two consecutive months of year-on-year declines, sports wagering revenue increased by 14.5% to $42.4 million.

The total sports wagering handle for April 2024 was $646.0 million, representing a 12.9% increase compared to the previous year.

Valley Forge Casino Resort, in partnership with FanDuel, led the state’s sports betting market with total revenue of $25.4 million, nearly three times the revenue of the next largest operation, FanDuel’s Hollywood Casino at the Meadows.

In summary, while retail slot revenue saw a decline, the overall gaming revenue in Pennsylvania showed growth, driven by strong performances in igaming and sports betting.
