With immediate effect, Parkinson has assumed the role at Allwyn, a significant change after spending 16 years at Bauer, a prominent UK-facing media group known for its numerous radio stations and magazines.
Throughout his tenure at Bauer, Parkinson held various senior positions, culminating in his role as Chief Strategic Partnerships and Events Officer.
He also served as Group Managing Director for national brands. Before joining Bauer, Parkinson had a rich career history, with stints at Emap Radio, Chrysalis Music Group, and Metro Radio.
In a LinkedIn post, Parkinson expressed his gratitude for his time at Bauer, stating, “I’ve had a ball with so many great Bauer people and brands but am ready for a new personal challenge in 2024.”
He leaves behind a legacy of record-breaking reach and revenues, a portfolio of sold-out UK and international shows, and a talented team of individuals and presenters across the UK.
Parkinson’s appointment marks the latest addition to Allwyn’s rapidly growing team as they prepare to take control of the UK National Lottery in February.
Allwyn secured the lottery license in September 2022, ending Camelot’s 28-year tenure as the operator since its inception in 1994.
Joining Parkinson, other recent recruits to Allwyn UK include Mark Hughes, who now serves as Chief Security Officer, and Chris Lyman, the CEO of Lotto NZ, who has taken on the role of Chief Operating Officer.
The organization has also solidified its UK leadership team, with CEO Andria Vidler and CFO Alan Artz leading the way.
In addition to these key figures, Allwyn has brought onboard a range of experienced professionals to oversee various aspects of their operations.
Gaby Heppner-Logan is the Chief Assurance and Participant Protection Officer, while Lucy Buckley serves as the Chief Commercial Officer.
Martin Novak takes on the role of Interim Chief Data Officer, and Alastair Ruxton assumes the position of Chief Strategy and Corporate Affairs Officer.
Further appointments include Sam Sheriff as Chief People Officer, Harry Willits as General Counsel, and Jenny Blogg as Operations Director.
Eddie Bennett and Paul Lumb have been appointed as Transformation Directors for Operations and Technology, respectively.
Notably, this week, International Game Technology (IGT) decided to withdraw its legal challenge against the decision to grant Allwyn the National Lottery license, ending a contentious legal dispute.
Camelot, another contender for the license, had also initially sought legal action but dropped its claim in September 2022.
Allwyn subsequently waived all claims for costs or damages against Camelot, paving the way for their transition to become the new operators of the UK National Lottery on 1 February 2024.
