British Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton has a 28 percent chance of winning the 2024 Drivers’ Championship with Mercedes, according to a study of bookmakers’ odds by My Betting Edge.
Hamilton, who hasn’t won a race since the 2021 season, had another difficult year in 2023, as he had to watch on as former rival Max Verstappen cruised to championship glory to make it three in a row.
The Mercedes driver, meanwhile, had to settle for only third in the Drivers’ Standings, over 300 points adrift of Max Verstappen.
However, fans of the seven-time world champion could be in for a more pleasant experience in 2024, as most bookmakers appear reasonably confident that Hamilton will be in the mix for the title, as he continues to fight for his elusive eighth F1 championship.
His team-mate, George Russell, has just a 7 percent chance of winning the 2024 championship, according to a review of bookmakers’ odds.
Hamilton nearly broke Michael Schumacher’s record for the most championships in 2021, but a series of controversial decisions by then-FIA race director Michael Masi ultimately denied him glory, to Verstappen’s benefit.
